Responsibility at Fira

Smarter and more sustainable construction

Responsibility is a key part of our strategy. We are making construction more sustainable and reducing its climate impact. For us, responsibility also means taking social and economic responsibility and following good governance practices.

Responsibility and sustainable development are at the core of our strategy and business – and part of our everyday work

Our responsibility program covers environmental responsibility, social responsibility, and good governance. In 2022, we created a roadmap for responsibility for the years 2023–2025. Based on this work, we added two new themes to our program: reducing nature impacts throughout the value chain and ensuring satisfied customers.

Fira has published a sustainability report on its operations since 2021. The reports have been prepared in line with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards.

Environmental responsibility

We reduce climate change by designing and building efficiently and with high quality, following our carbon roadmap

It is possible to reduce the environmental impact of construction through careful planning and high-quality execution. When a building and its spaces are designed with users’ needs in mind, they last longer, which lowers the environmental load over the building’s life cycle. Efficient and high-quality implementation is ensured by using industrial construction methods, such as prefabrication in factory conditions, detailed pre-planning, and takt production.

The foundation of our environmental management is a certified and audited ISO 14001:2015 environmental system. We train our teams to follow the environmental process, and its implementation is monitored and measured according to Fira’s defined procedures.

Social responsibility

Healthy Fira employees and a respectful culture are the foundation for excellent customer satisfaction

People first is at the heart of our strategy. We aim to provide the best employee experience both on construction sites and in the office. We believe that the construction industry can only be renewed by skilled and motivated people. An excellent employee experience is also the foundation for an outstanding customer experience.

We boldly look for new ways of working and invest in people because the value for our customers is created through people. Developing skills, well-being, and safety are our top priorities. In our culture, everyone is heard, and we move things forward together.

The core of Fira’s culture and leadership is consistency – having clear and unified ways of working and delivering high-quality results, whether it’s our own team or work done together with partners. We operate professionally within our networks and have excellent technical and digital solutions to support us. Through our site management, we indirectly influence the daily work of over a thousand people on our construction sites.
In 2022, we launched the Fira Leadership Academy, a year-long program focused on leading people, business, and processes. Its goal is to develop our leadership practices to be the best in the industry and enable data-driven management without losing the human perspective.
